The Asian financial crisis in 1997AD also affected these war torn countries. All these affected nations mainly from the under-developed nations, suffered tremendously financially and economically. They owed the Western nations by the billions. The daily wage of a labourer average a few dollars only (insufficient to buy the daily basic food for the family) whereby the advance Christian nations has an average of over US$100 per day. This is a great inbalance.

Mystery of the Third Seal

When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come and see." So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, "A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine." Rev 6:3-4

So I looked, and behold, a black horse
|
Black represents darkness and lack of illumination or understanding (confusion)
|
When a person is in darkness, he is either sleeping or in complete confusion of things around him. He does not understand why all the happenings. He is confused by all the calamities, sufferings, disasters and destruction around.

"The LORD will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Me." Deut 28:20

God cursed the people for forsaking Him by their extreme wickedness. These disasters will wake them up so that they will realise their wickedness. Thus, He sent confusion amongst them. The labour of the hands became unproductive.

The LORD has mingled a perverse spirit in her midst; and they have caused Egypt to err in all her work, as a drunken man staggers in his vomit. Isa 19:14

God caused confusion in the camp of the Egyptian so that they erred in their decisions. They were no longer rational in their thinking.

Surely I will send a spirit upon him, and he shall hear a rumor and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land." Isa 37:7

God caused Rabshaken, commander in chief of the Assyrian army to err and retreated. On his way back home, he was killed because he blasphemed God.

The balance or scale always reflect fairness, partiality and justice.

A denarius is a day's pay ( Matt 20 )
Wheat is the cheapest and most common cereal, thus a day's pay ( possibly US$2/- ) is not sufficient for a family's livihood.

and three quarts of barley for a denarius
|
Barley is more expensive. Thus, there are people whose daily pay is excessive that food is only a small fraction of income.

This clearly states that there will be a time when the income of the poor is so low that they are living below the poverty line but the rich will become very rich. This is beyond the comprehension of many. The rich are no longer the millionaires but billionaires and super billionaires.

and do not harm the oil and the wine
Oil is used for annointing by the Priesthood thus representing Israel.
Christians are the new wine, thus Christian nations will not be affected by the financial crisis.

The Asian financial crisis in 1997, hit very hard on all Asian countries and also the African and some South American nations. Israel (oil) USA, Australia, and the European countries (wine), were not hurt by the downturn. In fact, these countries became richer and richer, whereby the affected nations were becoming poorer.

After the Asian financial crisis, the daily wage of a labourer average a few dollars and hardly sufficient for their livelihood (a quart of wheat). However, the rich only need to use a fraction of his daily wage for their livelihood ( 3 quarts of barley). This inbalance is getting worse and worse and by 2001 AD, the rich were the multi-millionares and they are now (2007AD) the billionaires. This gap between the poor and the rich will continue to widen until World War 3.

So the 3rd. Seal was opened since 1997AD, and by 2007AD the gap between the billionaires and the poor is so unbelievable that it is a big shame.

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber. 2 Pet 2:1-3
